Scoop's Health and Safety Guidelines & Release of Liability

  • Updated

At Scoop, the safety and well-being of our community is our top priority. We’ve designed our carpooling experience to help commuters travel safely and responsibly while reducing risk of exposure to contagious illnesses.

All carpoolers are expected to follow these general health and safety guidelines as well as their own employer's guidelines:

Stay home if you are unwell

  • Do not schedule or take a Scoop trip if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness.

  • If you test positive for a contagious disease or have been exposed, follow public health guidance and let your recent carpoolers know through ScoopCare.

Optional protective measures

  • While masks are optional, carpoolers are encouraged to wear face coverings if they feel more comfortable.

  • Follow any additional employer or local health requirements while commuting.

Vehicle hygiene

  • Drivers are encouraged to keep their vehicle clean and well-ventilated.

  • All carpoolers should avoid sharing personal items during the ride.

Reporting and accountability

  • If you notice another commuter violating health or safety guidelines, politely address the situation if safe to do so.

  • If the issue cannot be resolved, cancel the carpool and contact ScoopCare for assistance.

Working together as a community

The Scoop community is built on the belief that together we can improve the commute. Our community is strongest when everyone contributes to a safe and respectful environment. Following these guidelines helps keep your fellow commuters safe and ensures a positive experience for everyone.

Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge and are aware that contagious diseases, including COVID-19 or other infectious illnesses, are HIGHLY TRANSMISSIBLE and that participation in a Scoop carpool carries some risk. You understand and acknowledge that: 1) such exposure or infection may result in serious illness, personal injury, permanent disability, death, or property damage, 2) this risk may result from or be compounded by the actions, omissions, or negligence of others, and 3) while Scoop implements measures to reduce these risks, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to or contract a disease while carpooling. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN A SCOOP CARPOOL WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED. YOU HEREBY AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL RISKS OF PERSONAL INJURY, ILLNESS, DISABILITY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE RELATED TO THE DISEASE, ARISING FROM YOUR PARTICIPATION IN A SCOOP CARPOOL, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF SCOOP OR OTHERWISE. You hereby expressly waive and release any and all claims, now known or hereafter known, against Scoop, and its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, shareholders, successors, and assigns (collectively, "Releasees"), on account of injury, illness, disability, death, or property damage arising out of or attributable to your participation in a Scoop carpool and being exposed to or contracting contagious diseases, whether arising out of the negligence of Scoop or any Releasees or otherwise. You covenant not to make or bring any such claim against Scoop or any other Releasee, and forever release and discharge Scoop and all other Releasees from liability under such claims.
