With Scoop, we do our best to make pricing as clear and transparent as possible. Before scheduling any carpool, you’ll always see the exact price or reimbursement amount in the app, so you know what to expect before taking a trip. Pricing is shown prior to scheduling and does not change after you’re matched.
How does Scoop pricing for Riders work?
Riders cover a share of the commute cost with the Driver. Scoop automatically calculates and splits the cost for you, and payment is handled directly through the app.
The amount paid by each Rider helps Drivers offset commute-related expenses such as gas and vehicle maintenance.
If your employer participates in a Scoop Enterprise carpool program, you may see lower in-app pricing, as employers can subsidize part of the commute cost.
How does Scoop pricing for Drivers work?
Drivers receive a reimbursement for picking up Riders. This reimbursement is paid by the Riders and helps cover commute-related costs such as gas and vehicle maintenance.
Matching with two Riders instead of one increases your reimbursement to account for the additional pickup.
Driver reimbursements are added to your Scoop balance.
You can transfer your Scoop balance to your bank account at any time. Learn more in our article on cashing out funds.
How does pricing work if I am open to carpooling as either a Rider or Driver?
If you indicate that you’re open to carpooling as either a Rider or a Driver, the app will clearly show:
- How much you’ll pay if you match as a Rider.
- How much you’ll receive if you match as a Driver.
This way, you’ll always know what to expect before matching—no surprises.
