Scoop’s matching algorithm automatically aims to create 3-person carpools whenever possible. Depending on trip demand, timing, and route availability, you may sometimes be matched in a 2-person carpool instead.

📝Note: Drivers who would like to restrict their matching so they only match with one Rider can contact ScoopCare to have this setting updated on their account.

Can I add another Rider after my carpool is matched?

Once a carpool is matched, additional Riders cannot be added to that trip in the app.

The carpool shortlist is not available to Drivers who are already matched in an existing carpool. However, if you are an unmatched Driver, you may select one or two Riders from your carpool shortlist before a match is finalized.

If there are specific commuters you’d like to carpool with, we recommend referring them to Scoop if they aren't aren’t already part of the community. This way they can schedule trips on the same route and time. You can also use the Favorites or Top Favorites features to prioritize who you’re matched with.

Important notes

All Riders must be scheduled and matched through the Scoop app. Bringing along unscheduled Riders is not allowed under Scoop’s Community Guidelines.

Trips that are not matched and completed in the app are not eligible for credits or reimbursements and Scoop is unable to manually credit carpools that were taken outside of the app.
