How do route-based blocks work?

  • Updated

When you customize your route preferences by placing route blocks, you’re choosing to avoid being matched with a specific carpool setup in the future. A route block applies only to the selected pickup location, drop-off location, or the exact combination of both, along with a small surrounding area around the selected location(s).

This means:

  • You will not be matched again in that exact same carpool configuration.

  • You will not be matched within a small radius around that location.

  • The block does not prevent you from matching with the same commuter on a different route or address.

Because route blocks are location-specific:

  • If the other commuter changes their pickup or drop-off address, the block may no longer apply.

  • If you update your own commute addresses, it may still be possible to match with a location you previously placed route preferences against.

At this time, previously placed route-based blocks cannot be removed or edited. For this reason, we strongly recommend using careful consideration before placing a block, as excessive or unnecessary blocks can reduce your overall match opportunities and negatively impact your match rate.
