How is Scoop pricing calculated?

  • Updated

Whether you drive or ride with Scoop, you’ll save on your commute compared to driving alone. Some Drivers even save 50–100% of their normal commute costs. With the average commute in the U.S. costing over $4,000 per year, that can be a significant amount of savings!

Rider and Driver Costs

  • Drivers: When you carpool as a Driver, you receive a Driver reimbursement paid by Riders. This helps cover part of your commute costs, such as gas and vehicle maintenance.

    • Driver reimbursements typically range from $4–$10 per passenger, per trip.

  • Riders: When you carpool as a Rider, you pay a Rider cost, which covers your share of the commute.

    • Rider prices typically range from $4–$9 per trip, depending on your commute distance, route, and group pricing eligibility.

How Pricing is Determined

Pricing is based on several factors:

  • Route distance

  • Carool locations (origin and destination)

  • Carpool size (number of Riders)

  • Any applicable promotions

You and your colleagues and neighbors may see different pricing at different times as a result. Prices may vary over time to encourage more people to carpool and to optimize our community dynamics to give each commuter the best opportunity to match.

Any promotions we offer, or changes we make, are all about making your route more reliable and efficient. Our goal is to keep Scoop as consistent and affordable as possible.

Note: You’ll always see your current pricing in the app before scheduling and taking any trip
