How does Scoop match Riders and Drivers?

  • Updated

The most effective way to get matched in a convenient and enjoyable carpool is to schedule your carpool before the matching deadlines. This gives the Scoop algorithm time to consider multiple factors for each potential match, including:

  • Scheduled pickup and drop-off times

  • Preferred pickup times

  • Scheduled origin and destination addresses

  • Proximity between commuters

  • Added trip time for each participant

  • Employer information

  • Past trip experiences

  • Favorited and Top Favorited carpoolers

  • Route and personal blocks

📢  Important: Riders can only be matched with a Scoop Driver if they schedule before the matching deadline(s).

If you’re a Driver and missed the scheduling deadline

If you're a Driver and did not schedule a trip request prior to the deadline(s), you'll be able to manually create a carpool by using The carpool shortlist.

📝 Note: The carpool shortlist is currently unavailable for commuters using shift scheduling. Shift scheduling is only available for commuters whose employers are a part of a specific Enterprise Carpool Program. If your employer is a part of a program offering shift scheduling, you will see it within the Scoop app.
